I'm working on a secret proof-of-concept project. If it goes well, I'm making a version in beautiful yarn and submitting to Knitty. If it sucks, I'll put it on my Ravelry.
In less-secret news, I have definite plans for some of the MIL yarn.
I plan a v-neck argyle vest like Eunny's Deep V Argyle, but with better shaping for the short and busty, and no steeking. It will be purply-blue (wool from a cone) and creamy white (alpaca from balls). Looks like I get about 6-7 sts/inch on size 3s. Alas, my only size 3 needles are dpns, and I'm not going to make a sweater on dpns.
I also plan a Picovoli-inspired vest (gosh, I'm on a total vest kick!) out of the handspun Delilah on 5s. I haven't decided about the stitch detailing, so it's waiting. Oh, and I need size 5 circs.
I'm making a moebius scarf out of the Knitpicks Suri Dream. It will be beautiful and lacy. I so declare it. However, I need some (you guessed it) new needles to do it properly. Perhaps just some new swatches to find a better gauge with the needles I have (0, 7, 8, 10.5, 17 in circs...)
So let's review: Three great projects. Free yarn. No needles.
Ok, well, what about some knitting while I wait?
I'm working on the Red Sox Socks in lecture. They're so simple and mindless that I think I'll have them done by the end of the quarter. They're next year's Christmas present for a non-blog-reader, so I feel really virtuous getting them done now.
I'm planning some entrelac socks in red-and-white Peace Fleece for my mom. I need to learn entrelac on magic loop and the checkerboards will be a good companion to her (now defunct) barberpole socks. I can't cast on for these until I finish the Red Sox because the Red Socks share yarn and needles with these.
I think I make a big swatch for the Argyle to get a better idea of gauge in pattern. I'd make mittens or something, but I think I'll run out of yarn if I do anything big enough to matter. Perhaps an ear warmer? It's not like row gauge really matters.
